Meal Planning Made Easier Than Ever with Real Plans

I have had SO many people over the last few years ask about meal planning. And you know what? I don’t plan much because I’m constantly making you guys new recipes so I have food in my house on a regular basis. My fridge is usually stocked with some sort of new recipe or at least some sort of food to throw together. But I don’t have the normal 9-5 job or kids or baseball practice or business school classes at night. You guys do! So me telling you to cook this or that in some order isn’t going to conform to each and everyone one of you and your different lifestyles.

But luckily, that day has finally changed. I now have an absolutely awesome meal planning tool for you guys. Thanks to fabulously creative people Antony and Emily, you now have one of the most comprehensive and powerful meal planning services right at your fingertips. Real Plans makes planning your weeknight dinners, quick morning meals and even afternoon snacks easier than ever. No more guessing on how to make the whole family happy because Real Plans makes it easier than ever.

Husband doesn’t like pork? That’s fine, exclude it from your weekly meals. Then divorce him. Kidding kidding, relax. Someone eating AIP in your household? No problem, just click AIP. Need some takeout style food this week? Just click on Asian. Real Plans settings makes customizing your meals easier than ever. No more scouring the internet for pork free, AIP friendly, restaurant style food. You have it all in one place! Everything you could think of, it’s customizable with Real Plans.

PaleOMG + Real Plans

So once you choose from the many recipes in their system or upload one of your favorites and import into your meal planner, then you will instantly have a shopping list that is segmented into groups depending on where you’re at in the grocery store! The list can also be viewed on your phone via their app and you can even take a picture of the ingredient to save for later. So you’ll never have your significant other calling and asking what the hell yuca is or what it looks like. It’s right there!

They also create a timeline for you, which I think is one of the coolest parts. How many times have you walked into your house at 7pm to cook dinner then figured out you were suppose to marinate something over night. Quickly your goals for making a healthy dinner fly out the door. But with Real Plans timeline, every day they tell you what you need to do that day, whether it’s hitting the grocery store, thawing out meat, or prepping a recipe for later on.

PaleOMG + Real Plans

But say you’re just not sure what to make this week. Deciding can be annoying when you do that in every other facet of your life. Well, they have this super cool tool called Recipe Roulette that randomly picks recipes to help you look at recipes you might have never looked at in the first place. Give it up a ‘thumbs down’ if you’re not interested or a ‘thumbs up’ if you want to add that to your menu that week! Perfect way to mix up your routine and get outside your food comfort zone!

PaleOMG + Real Plans

Real Plans has around 2500 recipes in their database, about 611 of which are PaleOMG recipes and that number is growing every week as I create more and more for you guys! That means you can easily search my recipes, easily add them into your meal planner, easily grocery shop, and easily put together a meal that everyone in your household will love!

I’m always getting emails about how to lose weight or get in shape or feel better. And the answer is: planning. “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” That quote has always stuck with me ever since I was in college and began my lifestyle of paleo and CrossFit. Because it’s 100% true. If you don’t plan out what you and your family are going to eat, how are you suppose to keep you and your family healthy? Being healthy is not easy, it’s not simple and it takes time and energy compared to eating fast food or microwave meals. But luckily more products, more apps, and more ideas are making health simpler as time goes on. That’s exactly what Real Plans is doing for the busy mom, the single dad, the college student, and everyone in between.

So what are your goals? Are you trying to lose weight, trying to get your health under control, trying to get the family on board with paleo? What is it? No more excuses and no more eating whatever is around you. It’s time for you to take control, take planning into your own hands, and make your healthy diet easier than ever! With Real Plans, making health a reality RIGHT NOW is possible!

If you’re ready to get started with Real Plans, you can try them out with a 30 day money back guarantee! Plans start as low as $6/month ($7 if you want to access my 600+ PaleOMG recipes) and you can also shop other amazing blogger recipes, too! 1. Wow what timing for this post. My husband I were just talking this morning about meal planning. We both work fulltime and have a 18 month old daughter so we always feel like we never have time to plan meals or cook when we get home since we’re so busy. I feel so overwhelmed trying to meal plan and maintain a healthy paleoish lifestyle. All my free time in the evenings I just want to spend with my daughter not planning out all our meals and cooking all night! Especially since my husband is picky about certain things and I have to also feed our daughter things that she will actually eat and not just throw on the floor! I will definitely be checking this out and hopefully it will help me get my life together! Thanks Juli!

    1. well i hope this tool can help with all that! food should always be enjoyed but it should also be convenient, too! hopefully this gives you more free time to hang out with the fam!

  2. I signed up for a trial. So far it looks great. Lots of options! Really handy when you have a family to feed.
Are really all your blog recipes in there?

  3. I’m with you Juli- failing to plan is planning to fail! I’ve finally lost my baby weight by really planning out my grocery shopping and my meals. If you have the right food sitting in the fridge it is pretty tough to not make the right choices! $7/month seems like a bargain! The plan I used to lose weight was $60/month!

  4. Great idea!!! I have said time and time again that I need to plan our meals better. I consistently go to the grocery store with my same and I stress the word same boring list only to find that when I go to make a meal I either have nothing to make or I only have half of the ingredients to make it! Looking forward trying this out!!!

    juli!

I just wanted to say that my mom and I are OBSESSED with your blog. I’m 26, a recent medical school grad and am fairly new to a crossfit style gym. After joining this gym, I started eating paleo and have never felt leaner/stronger (even compared to my short collegiate swimming career…) I felt so great that I suggested my parents try it out. We have all found a new love for cooking, trying new recipes and are even trading your cookbooks back and forth!

keep up the good work and THANK YOU!

PS were obsessed with our dog too.

    1. yayyyyyy this is so awesome to hear! thank you so much, lauren! so glad i’ve been able to help you AND your family out!!!

  6. This is so neat! I would pay an extra dollar to eat only PaleOMG recipes 😀 Does it allow for daily macros (C/P/F) percentages to be broken down?

  7. does it have meals for 1? I’m single and find that is the hardest part! most recipes are for at least 4 people and i waste so much food! i would love to find something that caters to single people and recipes/meal planning/grocery shopping for 1 person.

    1. as of right now, no. but when i started this blog, i was cooking for only one. if i made desserts, i would share them, but everything else I made for just myself. i just ate it for multiple meals and/or froze the other portions for later if i didn’t eat them! i never had an issue cooking for just one even though i was making a larger amount for the blog…and I was cooking way more than the normal person. just enjoy the leftovers!

    2. Maybe you can make the recipes as is and find some people, who are hungry, to share it with. Let’s make this world a better place!! I am sure those people would appreciate it 🙂

  8. Hi! When I saw this I thought to myself “yay I don’t have to keep writing out my shopping lists and I can plan everything in a matter of a click”. However after subscribing I realized that real plans does not provide your recipes as you list them on your site. For example, you provide what specific brand to buy or to make it from scratch.

Your recipes have changed our lifestyle. We literally don’t go out to eat because the food at home is so much better lol 🙂

Either way I think it’s a great tool for people to use but I would’ve liked for all the details would be listed as your site. 🙁

    1. i’ll see what i can do about that! and from now on, i’ll make sure i just list all the ingredients instead of clicking to another recipe! sorry about that frustration, i’ll make sure that changes moving forward!

      1. I’m not talking about clicking into another recipe. What I’m saying is in real plans it’ll just say hot sauce vs Frank’s hot sauce on your site. Another example, in real plans it’ll say mayo vs home made mato on your site. I love your suggestions and your homemade sauces/dips, etc. I just wish they would list that in real plans.

  9. I just came to your site thinking “I love Juli’s recipes. … I wish she had a meal planning template.” And BOOM, wish answered! This is awesome!

  10. I’m now a mommy of 2 and This is PERFECT!!! I’m struggling to get back to my clean eating after having a baby. My life style changed and can’t decide what to prep.
    THANK YOU!!!

  11. Do you know if this meal planning also gives nutrition information to, like for people who count macros? I love this idea though!

  12. So the price was $8.00 now its $16.00 a month. But, I’m loving the plans. Don’t think I will keep it long term at $16.00.

  13. I need help, I am a broke college girl who just recently moved out of moms house, my counselor wants me to be on this Paleo diet because of my mental health state. I’m lost, I don’t know where to start. I go to the grocery store and I’m spending almost $100 on a 1 meal to make for the week, I don’t have that kind of money, it’s soooo much easier to pick up fish sticks and Mac n cheese. I’m making these foods from a paleo recepie book and not liking them and end up throwing all of it away, so therefore I’m throwing my money down the drain that I don’t even have. I want to like paleo, I just don’t know what to buy or how to cook it to taste good without spending a fortune! Please help.

    1. when i graduated college, i decided to go paleo. at that point in my life, i was making $17k per year for a little while and still making paleo work. sure, i wasn’t purchasing the best cuts of meats or organic fruits & veggies and i definitely wasn’t baking that often, but i still made it work. i bought meats that were on sale, i bought veggies that were in season and i topped everything with hot sauce. i didn’t buy many spices, i didn’t make fancy recipes, i mostly just ate chicken, broccoli and topped it with hot sauce. boom, paleo. stop thinking you have to make super elaborate recipes right now, you don’t. you just need to feed your body with nutritious, simple food. and on special occasions, make a more fancy meal or baked good. i hope that helps! just keep it simple!

  14. Hi Juli! First of all, I want to say that I love your Instagram, snap chat and your “I just don’t give a F” attitude about certain things. Since following you I have tried to incorporate a paleo-ish type diet and I’m slowly learning what I like and dislike about it (I need to buy your cookbooks! is there any particular one you love the most and recommend? Or is that like asking someone to choose a favorite child?). I’m relatively good at meal planning, but miserable at snack planning. Often times I find myself failing at snack time and eating something unhealthy. What are your go tos? Most snacks I want to buy are processed foods and completely throw me off track from the good I’ve done in the gym and with my meals.
Lastly, I love Jackson. My boyfriend has two frenchies that I basically claim as my own so I understand your obsession. Thanks for all of the laughs and information your provide!!

    1. no that question is easy, definitely my third cookbook Juli Bauer’s Paleo Cookbook is my favorite cookbook and the one I recommend the most! it has the best recipes, the best photos and the most personality of all the books! and for snacks, it’s always different. sometimes it’s just a few bites of a meal like maybe chili, or it’s a larabar or some plantain chips or a small hazelnut butter packet. it just depends what i’m craving, but i usually have the best time with eating a snack that has some sort of protein and fat in it since that holds me over the longest. hope that helps!

  15. I’m a little late to comment on this post, but I have been using Real Plans for just over a year now and it is SO WORTH IT! I pay for the annual subscription (which is the most economical) and really, if it saves my husband and I from eating out twice in a year, it has paid for itself. Of course when I noticed there was a PaleOMG add on I immediately subscribed to that 🙂 Just wondering though, are all your recipes on Real Plans or am I missing out on any delicious eats that are exclusive to your cookbooks?

    1. i kept all my recipes from my books inside my books (unless I shared a sneak peek on the blog, then you’ll find it in real plans) but most of my book recipes are solely in my book! so glad you’ve been loving Real Plans! it’s seriously such a game changer for people!

  16. WHAT IS THIS I CAN’T EVEN.

Seriously, this is the meal planner of my dreams. Thank you!

As for the person who asked if it has meal plans for one…yes. And, you can choose which days you do your meal prep, set the number of servings you want everything to have…boom. Simple. I have one day i can do meal prep for my busy workweek – so I choose 5/6 servings of those recipes, and then choose 2/3 servings for smaller meals on the weekend. Every entry is customizable. I played with it for a bit and found it was super easy to get the hang of. And the customer service people are super friendly.

Best $7/month I’ve spent in awhile.

  17. Hi Juli! I started following your blog last January when I decided my husband and I needed to get ourselves back on track with food in 2016… All I can say is my feelings towards you (especially your snap chat) are like your feelings about following Kaitlyn Bistowe.

I just gave in and decided to try Real Plans, so far I really am loving it way more than I thought I would. Do you how often they upload your new recipes?

Thanks for providing us with constant inspiration!

    1. awwww that’s absolutely amazing. and makes me want to get back on my snapchat. i needed a break for a little bit haha. and they should be updating my recipes weekly. let me know if that’s not the case and i’ll make sure to check back in with them. i update recipes the most out of their other bloggers, so i think they aren’t use to adding that many recipes in that often

  18. Thank you so much for this!! I’ve been following you since a diagnosis of RA a couple years ago and I just wanted to tell you how awesome you are!! I’ve laughed so hard watching your insta stories:) Quick question..Where is your top from that you were wearing in your stories when talking about this today? Please don’t say it’s over $100 and from Lululemon! Haha!

  19. I have 2 questions. Are white potatoes and quinoa paleo? The second question is after being on Paleo 5 weeks I still tend to get “blue” or “depressed” usually in the afternoon. I never had this problem before. I used Real Plans and just did Paleomg add-on.

    1. white potatoes are a grey area. they are not recommended for people who are sedentary or do not work out. and quinoa is not paleo. and i’m not sure about the blue or depressed feeling. i would recommend speaking with a doctor or nutritional therapist about that!

  20. Hey, I signed up with Real Plans and have the PaleOMG subscription. I am really excited to make some of your recipes. Do you know how often the Real Plans website gets updated with your new recipes? I saw the Instant Pot Barbacoa Tacos and didn’t know if I should import the recipe into Real Plans or wait until they update. Thanks in advance!

    1. they are little hit and miss with uploading the newer recipes since i add new recipes so often. it usually takes them a month or two to catch up so i would definitely import it yourself if you’re ready to put it into your rotation. i’m so sorry for the inconvenience, i keep pushing for them to upload them quicker

  21. Can give us an example of a day in your life meal plan and how you keep your figure? I have gone paleo to loose weight and feel better health wise. I definitely feel better but I am not loosing weight. Therefore it will be helpful to know what an average day looks like to you.
    Thanks!

    1. i’m not sure what you mean by life meal plan. but i share a ton of my meals on my instagram page and you can also see many posts of what i ate in a day. here’s a few of them –
      https://paleomg.com/weekly-workouts-what-i-ate-in-a-day-42/
      https://paleomg.com/weekly-workouts-what-i-ate-in-a-day-40/

      https://paleomg.com/weekly-workouts-what-i-ate-in-a-day-38/
I keep my figure by working out 5 times a week and staying away from grains, too much sugar, alcohol and i manage my sleep and stress!

  22. Juli, you are awesome! A little late to the game here, but I read about Real Plans on your blog, and HAS CHANGED OUR LIVES! My husband and I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old, and decided to start eating paleo about two months ago. Meal planning while working full time was overwhelming, and this has made it so easy! I was going to the store every other day, and now I go to WF once a week and spend $150-200 and we have breakfast and dinners for the whole week!! Amazing. it is saving us so much money, and saving me my sanity. And the shopping list, hello?! Having all of the ingredients needed for a meal IN THE FRIDGE on Monday and knowing what I’m making each day has allowed me to cook for my family again without losing my mind. Plus, I’ve lost the last 10 “baby” pounds since starting paleo.
PS. Your recipes keep me from missing cheese, which basically makes you a hero! Keep the deliciousness coming….
