That’s my excited face.

Oh sh*t. I can’t even hold it in. Word vomit is about to happen. I’M WRITING MY FIRST COOKBOOK!!

I’m literally tearing up just thinking about this. I’ve wanted this for so long and have gone back and forth about how I would accomplish this goal. But once I was approached by Scribe Publishing, I knew it was the right fit. Not only is the Publisher a CrossFitter as well, but she’s a paleo-er who gets my sense of humor and isn’t afraid of what I have to say. She’s so awesome.

I hadn’t thought about a writing a cookbook since my recipes are free over the internet, until readers began to ask for one. Which was very cool. It’s amazing people would actually want to purchase something when they can get it all free online. So really, I’m writing this cookbook for all of you who have supported me and wanted to show that support by purchasing a cookbook. So this cookbook will feature my favorite PaleOMG recipes along with many new recipes you won’t be able to find on the blog. Already have some good stuff for you!!

So what I want to know is, what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook? What is helpful to you and what would make your life easier in a paleo cookbook? Please leave your comments below and give your ideas because I’m making this cookbook for YOU all!

ANNNNNNND, omg, yes there is more. I’m now in the first steps of creating a PaleOMG app. Let’s be real here, obviously I am not the person doing it, I know nothing about anything…except sweets, but my good friend Peter who also put my website together for me, is doing the job. He’s amazing and spectacular so I’m trusting him to create something wonderful. BUT I want and need to know what you are looking for in a paleo app. I don’t do apps, I don’t really get them. I downloaded a food porn app once, but I’ve only looked at it once when I was too hungover to get out of bed. True story. So I need to know what people who actually use apps would like to see in a PaleOMG app?

Are you mad because there isn’t a recipe? Don’t you worry, there will be plenty all week!

Congratulations! I will totally support you, and purchase your cookbook. I am brand new to Paleo, and love your recipes. You should def include many tasty simple recipes for those on the go. Such as jerky (diff flavors), fruit rolls, granola, etc. For instance, great recipes for the dehydrator. Blend some fruit, stick it in the dehydrator, and voila!

I would really like to see serving size or how many portions a recipe makes….and NUTRICIONAL values per serving!!!!

this is MARVELOUS! so thrilled you found a publisher who “gets” you. that’s very important.

the thing i’d like in a cookbook is spiral bound. i like cookbooks to lay flat while i’m trying to read the recipe, so i don’t have to wrestle with it or break the spine to get it to cooperate.

i’d like some uber flavorful chicken and fish recipes.

you’re going to be great at this!

You’ve got a tonne of comments already, but let me add/confirm some more. First, I’m happy to pay for recipes that I can get from you already – you deserve it. It’s also nice to have them in a physical form for ease of use in the kitchen.

    What I’d like:
    – Pictures! Seeing yummy food makes me want to eat it
    – Staple paleo ingredients, things that every pantry/fridge should have
    – A guide to spices, flavours, etc. so that we can improvise without too many disasters. I can follow recipes quite well, but branching out on my own leads to disaster (and an angry wife)
    – funny stories in the margins

Congrats on the book deal JB! Since I am way too lazy and pressed for time (screw you school) to read all the above, I would suggest if no one else has said it that a section on kitchen tools would be cool. Not sure if you are planning on hard copy or an ebook, but if its the latter, embedding videos on each recipe page of how to use the appliance if a fancy technique is required would be cool as hell.

The prospect of going paleo can be pretty daunting. Have you thought of including an intro to paleo section in the book? Maybe a list of things you should/shouldn’t eat and paleo substitutes for non-paleo foods that people love to make the transition easier.

Wooooooohoooooo!!!!! I can’t wait–I have all the printed recipes in a binder, too. A for-real cookbook will be superb!

The number one thing I want to see in your cookbook would be your personality. Lots of folks can cook, but they do not kick ass like you.

I’d also like a slow cooker section, portable paleo, and a super-easy, limited ingredients section. And the thorough index–I definitely second that idea.

    How soon can we pre-order?!?!

OMG!!!! Congrats!!! How soon can they get it published??? I would say make try to make it easy and not over-whelming. But, you rock, so just stay you and make it as if you were using it everyday and all of us will love it!!!
