I’m officially back in Colorado and the honeymoon is over! Nooooooo! I feel like I need to be planning for something now that the wedding is over. Is that why people have kids so quickly? To start planning for the next big moment in life? Well instead of being with child, I plan on being with a new backyard. It’s time to landscape. And then enjoy every night in the backyard instead of with a human growing inside me. Pretty pumped about that!
Anywho, let’s talk about last week because it was our wedding week for our destination wedding in Jamaica and IT WAS AWESOME! It was seriously so freaking amazing. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing…except for drinking too much and eating too little our wedding night. Poor choice on my part, but I was just so excited to party with everyone! Then I was in bed by 9:30. Nailed it.
The week was full of indulging in drinks and food, so I made sure to get a workout in most days. No matter if it was a 10 minute workout or 30 minute workout, I made sure to do something and sweat a little. Here’s the thing with CrossFit style workouts…you’re done with them really fast. You give them all you got then you’re done. So there’s really no excuse to not workout on vacation. I had multiple people tell me to not workout and just relax on vacation, but that doesn’t sound like a good time to me. I’ve been working out HARD for at least 7 years now so why would I throw it all away for just one vacation? That’s not my style. So I worked out in the morning (even on my wedding day), not as near as hard as I do at home, then moved on with my vacation by 8am. Vacation is all about taking care of your body and letting it rejuvenate and I personally think working out is part of that rejuvenation.
I wanted to make sure I felt great in my dress and in a bikini all week long. That goal hasn’t changed just because our wedding week is over. Now I’m just working out hard for my daily life. I want to feel good and know that I’m doing all I can on a regular basis to be there. So often I see people eat so clean and workout so hard before a big event like a wedding, then throw it all away afterwards. DON’T DO IT! Take care of your body because you are only given one body, one life, one intestinal tract. After your big event, keep up with the hard work and all the advances you’ve seen. The wedding, the reunion, the goal weight all may be over, but there is still a future out there. Keep kicking ass just to prove to yourself you can do it. YOU control your future, don’t forget that!

Juli,
I am new to your blog in the last couple weeks, but I absolutely love it! This post comes at a great time as I have several work trips coming up in the next six months and always struggle with what to do in hotel gyms. I’m also getting married in a year and wanting to keep up with working out. Congrats on getting married and enjoy the backyard!
hope these workouts are helpful! and just fyi, i post a travel/at home workout every monday in my weekly workouts posts!
Oh my lordy! I did your 21-15-9-9-15-21 workout today and used 15# too…… I thought I was in good shape, but the fact that I almost slipped on my sweat and thought I was dying proved me wrong! You are one strong chick! Congratulations on the wedding by the way!!!! Absolutely adore your blog! Also find it funny when your like “this is what I’m eating. No it’s not paleo!”
Thank you for posting this! I work out at my little home gym and love these style workouts. Keep posting these types of workouts and definitely keep throwing in the at home modifications for workouts. They are so much fun to do. 🙂
I did your week of workouts this week and let me say, SO MANY BURPEES! I usually run 3 days a week and do some strength 2-3 days. It was nice to switch it up. I’d like to do more strength but I really do love to run so I’m trying to find a little more balance. I’m just wondering how long your workouts take you typically. I know crossfit is more intense and the home workouts made me work, but they took me about 20-25 mins. It seems so short! Loved it but it’s probably half the time of my normal workout. Just curious. Either way, loved the workouts!! Thanks for sharing!
i would say 90-95% of my workouts are under 25 minutes!
