I’m officially back in Colorado and the honeymoon is over! Nooooooo! I feel like I need to be planning for something now that the wedding is over. Is that why people have kids so quickly? To start planning for the next big moment in life? Well instead of being with child, I plan on being with a new backyard. It’s time to landscape. And then enjoy every night in the backyard instead of with a human growing inside me. Pretty pumped about that!

Anywho, let’s talk about last week because it was our wedding week for our destination wedding in Jamaica and IT WAS AWESOME! It was seriously so freaking amazing. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing…except for drinking too much and eating too little our wedding night. Poor choice on my part, but I was just so excited to party with everyone! Then I was in bed by 9:30. Nailed it.

The week was full of indulging in drinks and food, so I made sure to get a workout in most days. No matter if it was a 10 minute workout or 30 minute workout, I made sure to do something and sweat a little. Here’s the thing with CrossFit style workouts…you’re done with them really fast. You give them all you got then you’re done. So there’s really no excuse to not workout on vacation. I had multiple people tell me to not workout and just relax on vacation, but that doesn’t sound like a good time to me. I’ve been working out HARD for at least 7 years now so why would I throw it all away for just one vacation? That’s not my style. So I worked out in the morning (even on my wedding day), not as near as hard as I do at home, then moved on with my vacation by 8am. Vacation is all about taking care of your body and letting it rejuvenate and I personally think working out is part of that rejuvenation.

I wanted to make sure I felt great in my dress and in a bikini all week long. That goal hasn’t changed just because our wedding week is over. Now I’m just working out hard for my daily life. I want to feel good and know that I’m doing all I can on a regular basis to be there. So often I see people eat so clean and workout so hard before a big event like a wedding, then throw it all away afterwards. DON’T DO IT! Take care of your body because you are only given one body, one life, one intestinal tract. After your big event, keep up with the hard work and all the advances you’ve seen. The wedding, the reunion, the goal weight all may be over, but there is still a future out there. Keep kicking ass just to prove to yourself you can do it. YOU control your future, don’t forget that!

Now let’s talk about the workouts I did in the tiny hotel gym in Jamaica!

Juli- you are without a doubt, one dedicated and inspirational person. Keep on being a rock star!

I always try to make sure there is a gym in the hotel I am staying or close by when on vacation.

I’m sure it was a magical experience for you and your main squeeze.

So, Colorado is not a bad place to go home to, is it? Reason why I ask is that I may decide to leave the land of sweaty palms (Cali) and one place I am looking into is Colorado Springs. Any info you can share would be appreciated!

    Keep rockin’!

i think Colorado is THE BEST! if you’re cool with snow and weather that changes day to day, then you’ll like Colorado. so much to do and see here and it’s pretty much always sunny!

Love that you worked out on your wedding day! I hate the way people criticize others for training on holiday I totally agree that keeping it up is part of the rejuvenation! Love your Thursday workout! Defo one to try when I need something alternative!

it’s so weird when people criticize about working out!

Hey Juli, first of all, love you- i’ve been following you for years and although i’m not even paleo anymore and i don’t even really make recipes , your page is a site i visit weekly for the blog and is bookmarked:)
Anyway, I used to feel as if we were the same person. Same body type, same thoughts on food and working out and body image. And I’m so so happy for you that your life, attitude and career has only gotten better over the years, but yah left me in the dust! 🙂 just kidding, but I am really still where i’ve always been.
Pity party aside, i’ve been working on better relationship with food/body. My stomach issues are outta control though and often times lead me to stress, which leads to more stomach issues. i have avoided gluten for about 5 years now. MUCH better, but not 100%. I wanted to ask you (i know everyone is different of course) but if you weren’t paleo, you just ate gluten free, is your stomach fine? You may not even know the answer since you have been paleo since forever but I’m just curious. I don’t really believe in following paleo for my everyday life- i enjoy regular chocolate, gluten free oatmeal, rice, etc etc. But if it were to help my stomach, I’m all about it.

Thanks so much for sharing your life with us! So many congrats on your wedding. I wish i could put a pic of a heart, but i’m gonna go old school….. <3

when i started testing out more gluten free foods, i had more stomach issues. so no, if i ate just gluten free, i would have stomach issues and i know i would put on extra weight from excess sugar and carbohydrates. so i just try not to overdo it and eat those things every day. i still have gluten free granola sometimes or rice sometimes, but i try not to eat those foods every single day because i can soon feel the difference. let me know if you have any other questions, hope that helps!!

Thanks for the reply, that did help. Can’t hurt to try it out. 🙂

Congrats on the wedding and honeymoon! Glad you loved every minute of it (minus the hangover)! I love that you post your weekly workouts and what you ate in a day. You look so fab! I have a severe case of #body goals. It’s so helpful to see what you do to be in your shape and to see how you handle different situations (eg travel).

  6. Ashley @ DownHomeDuo says:

Congratulations! You looked awesome, hope you’re enjoying married life so far! I think you have an awesome mindset. Honestly, I work out on vacation too. Maybe not as hard as usual, but the feeling of trying to get motivated to work out after too long of a break is so awful. It’s like trying to start back up again is so much worse than to just keep moving. Also, it helps that my husband and I love to exercise together – that way it’s not a chore!

    1. juli says:

agreed! it was so nice to go back to my actual gym today and not feel like total crap through the whole workout!

      1. Brianna says:

Thanks for the tip! I’ll start looking at those!

  7. Heather S. says:

My boyfriend and I are heading to Tulum in a few weeks and we’re both avid crossfitters. Although we won’t be working out at a box, we’re still planning on working out while were there (especially since Murph is right around the corner)! Thanks so much for posting your vacation workouts!! I might “borrow” them while were away 🙂

    1. juli says:

glad i could help! have fun working out together!

  8. Andrea @ Pencils and Pancakes says:

The only reason people would give you sh*t for working out on vacation is because they feel guilty about not working out on vacation. If it’s what makes you feel good, why wouldn’t you? I worked out a couple of days on my honeymoon as well. I mean there’s not much else to do for the whole day except eat and drink so you might as well get some movement in there!

    1. juli says:

that’s totally how i felt lol you have so much damn time (especially since i work up at 6am every day), so might as well do something!

  9. Brianna says:

Thanks so much for posting your workouts! I did a lot of them this week and love how quick and challenging they were. Would you be able to share more quick workouts like that? I used to do CrossFit but now just go to a regular gym and I sometimes get tired of what I program! It was a nice change of pace to do what someone else has already suggested! 🙂

    1. juli says:

i always share one workout per week that you can do in a hotel gym or home gym, at the bottom at the post (I just didn’t this week since all my workouts were that)

  10. Carly says:

I have a random workout related question…I love seeing your nail pictures (and now with your recent gorgeous wedding ring!) and I always think to myself that I want long nails like yours but then worry that holding on to the bar at crossfit might not be as fun. Do you have a problem with this or do they not get in the way at all? Thanks!

    1. juli says:

only when i do snatches, they dig into the palm of my hand pretty bad and bruise lol but other than that, they are fine
