I probably use coconut aminos 60% of the time whenever I cook. Before my paleo days, I loved soy sauce and used it in excess when it came to my sushi nights. But once I went paleo, I was bummed to find out that one tablespoon contains more than half of the recommended daily serving of sodium and that soy just isn’t that great for you in general. Luckily, I quickly found out about coconut aminos!

The flowers of the coconut palm produce a slightly sweet nectar and when mixed with sea salt, it mimics the flavor of soy sauce. Boom – coconut aminos. Not only is coconut aminos low on the glycemic index, but it also has about one-third the sodium of soy sauce and comes packed with amino acids all while giving you that umami flavor we all crave.

With only two ingredients—aged coconut flower blossom nectar and sea salt—coconut aminos is one of the easiest and most suitable condiments that everyone from Paleo eaters, to vegans, to gluten-free foodies can enjoy.

I’ve shared a few products from Thrive Market in the past including avocado oil mayo, coconut oil and dark chocolate collagen bars. And when I shared those posts, I had many people ask me what my favorite products from Thrive Market were. And since I recently put an order in at Thrive Market, I wanted to share with you guys what I normally purchase from there! I’m a fan of pantry staples so I always have these items on hand whenever I’m baking or cooking. img_8460

I always need flours on hand since I’m cooking for you guys on a weekly basis. So that means I always stock up on almond flour, tapioca flour, and coconut flour. They have the same exact brands that I would buy at my local grocery store but at a major discounted price! I also grab other shelf stable items like maple syrup, ghee, lard, olive oil, mayo, and of course, coconut aminos!

But Thrive Market also has a ton of other items such as snack foods, safe cleaning products, and bath/beauty products! So you can find all sorts of items that you already use on a daily basis, just discounted, some items up to 50% off!

If you’re still wondering what to use your coconut aminos with, here are just some of my favorite PaleOMG recipes that use coconut aminos:

Spicy & Sticky Coconut Honey Chicken

Shrimp & Zucchini Pad Thai

Pork Belly Bibimbap

Asian Glazed Five Spice Pork Tenderloin

Bahn Mi Loaded Fries

Crispy Orange Beef

Beef Bulgogi Rice Bowls

    Hey Juli,

Looking to place an order to make some of your recipes, wondering if Almond Meal flour will work the same as Super Fine Almond flour?

    1. juli says:

it depends on the recipe. for my recipes, yes. for other baking specific recipes on other sites, you need extra fine almond flour

Just put a Thrive Market order in on Monday and it’ll be on my doorstep tonight! Yay. Love it. Makes getting better products so easy since I live in a rural area where I can’t always find the best options and if I do they are so expensive!
