I love and respect waffles. More than pancakes. #factoftheday

I did it. I took my first spin class. Well, not my first one ever, but the first one in my new attempt for more cardio and more exercise. I love my CrossFit, I like to lie and act like I love my running, and now I’m trying to love spinning.  I’ve lost some inches by lifting less during my workouts and running more, and feel much more comfortable in my skin, so I’m keeping it going with a little more movement in my day. Spinning makes you real sweaty.

It was funny to walk into a globo gym for the first time in probably over 3 years. I haven’t been in one since I worked at the Rec Center in college. And if you went to a big college, you know what those gyms look like. Lots of cut off t’s, lots of short shorts, and lots of make up. And girls that haven’t eaten in weeks because they are trying to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks before spring break. Obviously, college students are extremely intelligent about their eating and drinking habits. Maybe if they cut the beer out, they wouldn’t have to starve themselves. And pass out while ellipticalling. That’s not a word. Whatever. Anywho, after being in a CrossFit gym for over 3 years and knowing every person in the gym, it was weird to walk into a gym where no one talks much. Everyone looks so serious. And it was weird to have mirrors everywhere. Not really into that. I like not knowing my pain face.

Anywho, do I need to watch Game of Thrones? I feel like I’m the only person in the world of Facebook that isn’t watching it then Facebooking about it. I don’t even know what it’s about. But now I’m interested. And curious. I want to be part of the in crowd.

Do you ever wonder how many fake people exist on Facebook? No? I do. I totally do. Facebook is kind of really creepy.

OMG. A new season of The Kardashians is on. I don’t care what you think of me, I LOVE that show. L.O.V.E. It’s so addicting. I don’t really know why. Probably because their makeup is so awesome, or because they have lots of money. People with lots of money are interesting to watch. Not really, but kind of.

I’m really boring myself today. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling.

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. Place bananas, egg, maple syrup, coconut oil, and milk in a food processor and puree until smooth.
  3. Add ingredients from the food processor into a large bowl and add almond meal, shredded coconut, arrowroot flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt and mix well to combine.
  4. Pour mixture into waffle iron (mine was non stick and they didn’t stick at all, but before careful and maybe grease yours before).
  5. My batter made 5 waffles total.
  6. Top with bananas, syrup, and even some grass fed butter. That would be real good.

I’ve never seen Game of Thrones, either. I’m also feeling a little out of the loop.

I also am obsessed with the Kardashians. OBSESSED.

I can’t wait to eat these. Drooled just looking at them. No lie.

I’m curious; if I omitted the sea salt and baking soda would that ruin the recipe?

I’m on a very very heavily salt restricted diet due to my kidney/heart problems with edema. I have a hard time getting rid of the salt in my kidneys and moving water throughout my body.

      worth a try!!

I omitted the sea salt without any problem. However, the baking soda would be useful for rising. They would probably come out very flat without it, but sometimes we have to sacrifice fluffy for the right thing for our body.

Is there something else I can use besides arrowroot powder?

    1. juli says:

      coconut flour

      1. eden says:

what can i use in replacement of the shredded coconut?

        1. juli says:

no, but they may still work without the coconut

Thanks for the shout out! They’re pretty incredible 🙂 love Kardashians too. No shame 🙂

  7. Conn says:

Are the inches you have lost from doing more cadio and less lifting just because you were doing less cardio when you were lifting more or because your muscles were bigger from lifting more?

    1. juli says:

i think probably a little of both.

  8. Michelle says:

Did my first wod at a crossfit center after working in a fitness center for one and a half year! Feel like I live the opposite life from you right now – but I get the feeling of weirdness to walk into a whole new world….. 😉

  9. Marci says:

are you trying to lose weight? is that why less weights more cardio? I think you look great.

    1. juli says:

not lose weight, just get back to being a little smaller since i got pretty big for my own taste with competing in crossfit

Totally see what you’re talking about when I go into my gym. I just joined one a few weeks ago to give my at-home program a boost, and every time I go in I feel like I’ve entered the wild kingdom. Everyone is sizing each other up. And there are so many cardio bunnies and meat heads! I’m one of those people who plugs in my headphones and gets to work with the serious face because I’m there to sweat, kick my ass and go home. I have to purposely ignore other people because I feel like I’m being stared at when I pick up heavy weights. I admit, though, that the feeling of being stared at is probably in my head. I’d love to join a CrossFit gym for the workout and community, but it’s just not in my budget right now, so the $10/month gym membership will have to do.

I LOVE Game of Thrones. I read the books, which are fantastic, so I really enjoy watching the screen adaptation. I’m not one of those book snobs who gets upset when the show deviates from the novel. To me it’s just a new twist on a story I already know. Keeps it fresh. But I don’t have facebook, so I’m not constantly bombarded with other people’s updates about it. That would probably annoy me. Regardless, it’s epic. It’s got a mix of everything: drama, comedy, action. It’s hard not to get emotionally involved in the characters.
