So this little bite size idea was brought to you by an awesome reader. She emailed me with a non-paleo recipe of energy bites that were combined using oats and asked if I could come up with something! I love her. Well, oats make poop float in your bloodstream, and I personally don’t want that, so I came up with my own little version of energy bites. And they taste like heaven. Laura said she liked them because they weren’t overly sweet. I personally don’t think there is such thing as “overly sweet” but you get my flow.

OMG. I have the greatest news of the year. I caught a ball in kickball, on Tuesday. I, Juli B., caught a fly ball that a human being had kicked. Ok, if you have no idea why I think this is a big deal, you need to read some of my past posts. I don’t like balls sports. Or, really, sports in general. I like being in a kitchen. Or lifting a barbell over my head. But when a ball is flying my way, I freeze. Seriously seize up. So when a ball flew in my direction and there was no other teammate around me to take over, I had to do it. I had to put my arms out, say f*ck f*ck f*ck multiple times, and hope for the best. Luck obviously played in my favor that one play. Thank goodness or my kickball team would have thought I was even more inept than I already seem. Did I mention I have a really good looking team? Oh, I did. But seriously, wait until I get a picture for you guys, the men and women are straight up studs.

Have you watched The New Girl yet? You haven’t?! You’re dumb. It’s seriously absolutely hilarious. It’s one of those shows that you have to listen very carefully to because of all the good slip-in comments that bounce around throughout each episode. And it now has my new crushes in the newer episodes….Dermont Mulroney. F*ck he’s dreamy. Like, epic dreamy. I love him. I wish he’d wod with me.

Been considering adding in a little immediate post-WOD recovery to eat in my car on the way to work instead of waiting the hour it takes to get to my breakfast. I even bought a few nasty protein bars in desperation. Then, boom. Juli B to the rescue again. Making these this weekend.

Okay, poop floating in my bloodstream..can’t be a good thing. PERIOD. I mean the thought alone had me grossed out. (note to self, ditch the oats for the kids too.)

THOSE look mouth watering. I mean really.

I played kickball when I was a kid, shoot. swear all you want those balls hurt when you get smacked and man alive..no one ever comment on that!!! (totally not a set-up!)

Hi Juli!! 🙂 These look similar to your fig fudge balls, which are awesome (try them, people!), except these are nuttier and chocolateier. Nom nom nom nom nom.

Anyhoo, I took your recommendation and got me some Enjoy Life chocolate chips! 🙂 They are pretty delicious. But I was curious … why do you like them specifically? I haven’t adequately explored the chocolate chips options so I can’t compare myself. Also, have you done much with cacao nibs? They taste a little funky on their own but I’m wondering if they’re good to cook with.

    1. Stephanie says:

I love Enjoy Life as well! The reason I like them is because they are ridiculously tasty, but are made in a gluten free/dairy free/soy free/nut free dedicated facility. In fact, there are only 3 ingredients! In my (limited) experience, this combination of tastiness and purity is just unmatched. But I’ll let Juli answer too because she’s the expert!

  8. Sandy says:

Where do you get your chocolate chips?

    1. Promise McEntire says:

I got mine at Sprouts! I think Juli said somewhere that she gets them at Whole Foods, but I checked mine and couldn’t find them there. :-/

    2. Stephanie says:

I get mine at Kroger (midwest), in the “nature’s market” section. I’ve also seen them at Earth Fare.

    3. juli says:

Whole foods or sunflower market, in the gluten free section 🙂

    4. Katy says:

I’ve been lucky enough to find them in our nearest Price Chopper (if you have those) in the gluten free/ healthy aisle. It’s really a shame that there’s only ONE aisle dedicated to this stuff in a major grocery store.

  9. jen says:

What are these ‘leftovers’ that you speak of?

    1. juli says:

Leftovers are meals I have made in the past then remake to have better pictures so you actually try the recipes!

  10. Jen says:

Had to make these when I got home from work today and they are delicious!!
