Aren’t these spooky? Yeah, not at all. Whatever. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Paula Dean is cooking macaroni and cheese in her crockpot as I type this post. I sometimes envy her life.
I’ve stopped parting my hair on the opposite side. That only lasted 2 days. It was painful. Seriously, painful.
So I have now had 2 Halloween’s on my blog. Last year I was Rainbow Bright. I didn’t even know who Rainbow Bright was before that night, when my friend let me borrow her outfit. This year, I was a bit classier. Not really, but I’ll act like I was. I was Aubrey Hepburn, minus the long cigarette and huge sunglasses, with a seriously short sequin dress. So really, not Audrey Hepburn at all. I found the dress at Buffalo Exchange, which is a place that loves to overcharge you for second hand clothes. Which sucks, because I really love that store. Either way, I loved the dress so I had to make an outfit around it.
But I can say one thing, this year was fairly similar to last years. Too much alcohol was consumed, had to leave the party early, woke up wondering what the hell happened. I was drinking off my stolen car. Makes total sense. But this time I woke up in pajamas, in my own bed (unlike being in Laura’s last year) and figured out some of what had happened the night before through my text messages.
One of my texts to a friend included the following messages:
“Too much”
“Ugh”
“Twilight”
I came to find out that I told Laura that I needed to leave the bar when it was around 12:30. We got a cab ride home, she forced me to eat plantain chips (when I say forced, I’m guessing I stuffed them down my face as quickly as possible) and we watched twilight. It must have been an awesome night if it ended with Twilight. That was the third time I watched in over the weekend.
Sunday was super productive, especially since I didn’t have a car. So first I talked to Sergio. Went on and on about how hungover I was, since of course I’m sure he cares since he’s fighting for our country in Afghanistan. Then once our friend Sarah was kind enough to take us to Laura’s car, we went on to stuff our faces with probably the best tasting food I’ve had in a good solid 4 months. Then I watched I thiiiiiiink 3 movies. One of which was Twilight. And then I found my weed infested car. Productivity quality at it’s highest.
I hate drinking. It’s poison. And makes feel like poop. And I become a plantain chip hoarder. I think I had some chips in my hair. Classy Juli.
Halloween Sticky Chocolate Cups
- Yield: 6 1x
Ingredients
- 6–9 ounces dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup almond butter (sunflower seed butter for nut free!)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together your almond butter, honey, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.
- In another bowl, melt your chocolate. I used the microwave but you could also use a double boiler.
- Now place 6 silicone liners in your muffin tin. If you don’t have silicone liners, paper muffin liners will work just fine.
- Use a glazing brush or a spoon to spread some of your chocolate in the bottom of your muffin tin.
- Then pour a bit of your almond butter into the cup.
- Then top off with another small dollop of chocolate, spreading out to make a circle.
- Repeat in all cups.
- Place in freezer for an hour or more.
- Pull out of liners. The almond butter will sticky and stick a little to the sides of the liners.
- Eat up for your Halloween treat!
Notes
If you don’t want them sticky and want them to put more of a “Reese’s” type chocolate up, fill the bottom of the liner with chocolate and your almond butter. Freeze for an hour, then pour your chocolate on top, covering all of your almond butter, then freeze for another 30 minutes.

These look like heaven right now, btw..
haha yes 1/2 cup. sorry about that!
I am currently conspiring to commit chocolate eating.
Perfect send off for “No Nut November” – probably won’t want nuts for months after these
Juli.. I swear you were sent here from Paleo heaven! Thank you for giving us wonderful recipes! I can not wait to make these!!!
You did not just do this to me.
I’m not going to say “that’s what she said” to Dan’s comment, because that would be inappropriate…
Juli – as someone who enjoys drinking a lot, I have a solid recipe to prevent the hangover feelings. 1) Drink only vodka & soda (preferably potato vodka), 2) Mix emergen-c with your first drink, 3) take two milk thistles with your first drink too, 4) repeat step #1 repeatedly
OMG. That’s all I can say.
I was watching that episode of Paula Dean yesterday!! She is such a rockstar! Too bad her recipes will make your heart stop. 🙁 This recipe looks awesome!! Definately going to try this tonight!!
These look easy and delicious! The perfect combo 🙂
Wow. Just…wow.
