I literally don’t understand how it’s almost Christmas. It doesn’t feel like it whatsoever. Probably because I was in Mexico just a week ago and it hasn’t been cold in Colorado at all. Except it’s suppose to be a high of 9 degrees that day. Just planning ahead here…Jackson will NOT be getting a walk that day. We will have to run circles around the house instead. Which probably isn’t a great idea since our Christmas tree has fallen over twice. My husband put one up while I was in Mexico and I came home to holiday cheer in our house but I had to leave town again right away and when I came home the second time, it was on the floor. So I hoisted it back up and what did it do an hour later after I had already cleaned up? It fell over again. So I left it there until my husband got home from being out of town too. I think it’s safe to say that I’m over the real Christmas tree idea.

Everyone always says that real Christmas trees are so great because they smell so good. But ummmm I don’t smell sh*t. And I have the most sensitive nose of all time. The only time I smell the tree is when I’m trying to keep it upright and have to grip the needles until my hands bleed. Then my hands smell like a mixture of blood and pine needles. What a lovely holiday smell. You know what smell like a Christmas tree? A pine tree candle. Shocker. I think I’m going to push hard about getting a fake tree next year. No mess, no clean up, no work. I’m such a grinch when it comes to Christmas but maybe a fake Christmas tree next year will do the trick.
I wish I wasn’t such a grinch and it’s something I need to work on because my husband loves Christmas and having a wife that doesn’t like it just isn’t cute. Luckily we are doing something extra fun on Christmas Day which is getting me in the spirit already. We plan to dress in onesies, which reminds me I need to get one, then we are going to make mimosas, a big brunch, then watch Christmas movies all day. So far I’ve found a unicorn onesie, a fox onesie, a gingerbread man onesie, a snowman onesie, and an old school onesie. Which one would you choose? And we are still deciding which movies to watch. So far we have Elf and Home Alone recorded, but I also LOVE The Holiday so hopefully I can find that one on TV and record it. What are other good ones I’m missing?? Obviously A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation, but anything else you love to watch during the holidays?! Tell me tell me!
Sugar Cookie Skillet
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon coconut flour
- 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 tablespoons ghee
- 4 tablespoons maple syrup
- pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon snowflake sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 10.5 inch round griddle.
- Add all ingredients (except for the sprinkles) into a food processor and pulse until completely combine. The dough should mix into a slight ball once combined. Place the dough in the griddle pan and use your fingers to press dough around evenly throughout the pan. Poke holes with a fork in the dough to keep it from rising in the oven. Top with sprinkles throughout.
- Bake crust for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown. Remove then let cool for about 10-15 minutes before slicing.
- If you’re feeling extra fun, use cookie cutters to cut out cute holiday shapes!

You have to watch The Mistletones! It is only on ABC family but they play it at random times- sometimes when Im off from work during the day and I get so excited. It has Tia Mowry and the music is bomb. My bf loves Christmas everything but I really only like Christmas so I can watch this movie all the time (DVR’d it years ago).
If you have never seen Just Friends, watch it! Ryan Reynolds & Anna Faris … it takes place during Christmas, so it totally counts. And it’s Ryan Reynolds….you can’t go wrong! It’s my absolute favorite to watch – hilarious and so many funny characters. I get that Grinch feeling – I’m not even putting up my fake tree this year since the only person that effects is me. I checked with myself and turns out I’m ok with no decorations this year 🙂 Living my best life …. Happy Holidays!!
ooooh i forgot about that one! love it! and both of them!
Any advice for substitute almond flour as I am sensitive to it. More coconut flour or another paleo flour?
Thanks!
you could use a different nut flour like hazelnut flour!
Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon is a favorite of ours! And my husband loves the newer movie – Why Him with James Franco. I argued that it wasn’t a Christmas movie but he made me watch it and it DOES in fact take place around Christmas. So he won that one…
Merry Christmas!
just watched that one the other day! so good!
Love Actually- one my favorites to watch with the fam. It’s a humorous but sweet, feel-good British romantic comedy. Lifts my mood every time!
Also, I’m going to give these cookies a go for a Christmas Eve party! I could use a good quick and easy cookie recipe at this point!
THE.BEST!! I’m disappointed i forgot that one. love it so so much!
Your Christmas Day plans sound so fun and low key! A Christmas Story is definitely my favorite Christmas movie which is funny because I used to hate it when I was younger. I’m probably mid way between you and your husband as far as how into Christmas I am.. I’m all about family time, food and drinking. And the only Christmas music I can tolerate is what I listed to as a kid which was Elvis and Jimmy Buffet lol! Have a great Christmas!
This recipe looks delicious! Thanks for the Christmas treat idea! 🙂
I’m all for fake trees. IMO, they look just as good as the real ones and if you get a good one it will last for years. My mom has had the same one for about 15 years now and she still gets complimented on it every year.
My favorite Christmas movie of all time is The Family Stone. Awesome cast! I watch it several times a year. Enjoy! 🙂
damn that’s so long! good to know! and family stone is so damn good. soooooo uncomfortable and awkward at times, but sooooo good.
My favorite Christmas movie is “The Family Stone”. And, of course “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”. And do you suppose chocolate chips would be good in this cookie?
love both!
Buy a fake tree the day after Christmas. You’ll get a deal, and you’ll be all set for next year!
i was just thinking about that today! such a good idea!
The Family Stone!
love!
