You know what may be the best feeling in the entire world? When you’re stuck in traffic, gripping your steering wheel so you don’t scream, then once it finally opens up and you slam on the gas petal because it’s the only way to release that built up stress in your body. Yep. That’s the best feeling in the world. I hate traffic.

Have you tried my Coffee Cake Banana Bread yet? It’s my favorite afternoon snack. And favorite banana bread I’ve made so far. Just thought I should voice that thought.

Yesterday was really overwhelming in my comments about finding a dog.  People pretty much demanded that I adopt a dog. People, if there is a puppy French Bulldog out there to adopt, hells yeah I’m going to adopt it. But just like how some parents want to birth their own child and raise it, I feel the same way about a dog. Minus the birthing part. Obviously it’s way harder to find an adoption shelter that just has frenchie puppies running around everywhere. But if that occurs, I promise you that I will adopt that frenchie puppy. Ok? Ok.

And I’m not changing my mind about getting a frenchie, so please feel free to stop telling me about their health issues and looking into different dogs. You don’t see me telling people to think twice about having children since I don’t like them. Just sayin.

So I’m totally obsessed with leaving Yelp reviews. I like people knowing my opinion. Obviously. But I look to Yelp all the time for other people’s reviews about restaurants and different companies I want go to, so I feel that it is my civil duty to leave my opinion for others to see. I don’t write the long reviews that you get overwhelmed with as soon as you see it, just something simple and to the point. If the place is so-so, I tend to not write a review because I don’t really care. But if it’s awesome or awful, I’m writing something. I wrote a few just yesterday. One was real bad. I think I need to get a life. Whatever.

5 from 17 reviews

  • Yield: 2-3 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of brussels sprouts, cut in half
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil (I used toasted sesame oil)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

For the dipping sauce

  • ½ cup 30 second mayo or Primal Kitchen
  • handful of cilantro, minced
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder (add teaspoon by teaspoon and taste it to make it to preference)
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients and coat brussels sprouts on all sides.
  3. Place brussels sprouts on a parchment paper or silpat lined baking sheet. Spread out so the brussels sprouts aren’t overlapping and can cook evenly.
  4. Place in oven and bake for 35 minutes.
  5. Once brussels sprouts are in the oven, mix together all the ingredients for the dipping sauce and place in fridge to cool.
  6. Serve crispy brussels sprouts with dipping sauce.

Could not agree with you more about the dog situation, I am wanting a Westie and my boyfriend thinks I should adopt a random from the shelter. I think he should shut his pie hole. Your pet is supposed to make you happy and if a Frenchie makes you happy, you go girl!!

I also left a negative Yelp review yesterday, somehow, I feel closer to you!!

Frenchies are the cutest! If I ever get another dog that is what I want it to be. You should follow manny_the_frenchie on instagram. He is one of the cutest Frenchies ever.

This ain’t about food… I have 4 labradors. All 4 came from breeders as puppies. Yes, I could have rescued a dog, there are a gazillion lab rescues out there, but it also really wonderful to find a great breeder and picking a puppy from a litter. (All 4 times!) I’m with ya sister! Dogs are an investment in time, love & money. Be sure to get the lil’ rascal YOU want.

If you want to come out to CA, I was browsing Craigslist today and ran across a new litter of 5 puppies in Perris, CA…

I am so glad you stuck to your guns. I am a mutt and pitbull lover so I would go instantly to a shelter since my only requirements are black and tan or brindle coloring and I like the calmer older dogs, but that is just who I am. Everyone is different and everyone wants something different.

I was a veterinary assistant for a few years and frenchies were the best fun to work with. Yet we did see them often, so I suggest once you get your Frenchie, take it to the vet often for just fun visits which are visits with treats, loves, and getting on the scale. This also helps you get to know the Veterinarian and staff and usually doesn’t have a copay or anything.

I can’t wait to hear the mischief of your pup. Take lots of pictures too!

Keep yelping! I’m one of those people that rely on Yelp big time. It’s usually spot on.

As for the dog… get what you want! Don’t let all those crazy animal adoption people get to you. Why would you want to own someone else’s rejected pet? Those animals will always have to be reprogrammed in some way.

    1. Anna says:

“Why would you want to own someone else’s rejected pet?” Are you serious with that comment? Would you say the same thing about people wanting to adopt a child?

Personally, I would still go for a rescue, but I totally understand your desire to get a cute lil frenchie. They truly are the coolest looking dogs with the greatest personalities.

    2. Harps says:

I’m sorry this is not true at all. I adopted the sweetest dog from the shelter, no behaviour issues, house trained, and he loves me like crazy. I’ve known people who have taken strays in who have absolutely blossomed under them. There are so many wonderful, loving dogs in rescues and shelters waiting for homes, they’re not all broken and even the ones that are just need some love.

If you still don’t like House of Cards… on Netflix, there’s a show called United States of Tara. It’s about a woman with dissociative identity disorder and it is HILARIOUS… and dramatic and addicting. You would like it. I hope you do if you watch it.

  9. Tara says:

    Hey Juli!
Love everything you do. 🙂 So the dog thing.. It’s something I happen to feel very strongly about. You should do whatever it is that YOU want to do. As someone who works in the veterinary industry I got my fair share of very ugly looks & whispers because I chose to purchase a puppy. I chose it because it was right for me. I wanted a puppy from a REPUTABLE breeder and I sought one out asked TONS of questions and have given the most loving home to my Newfoundland, Puck. (He’s the Sh*t!). I’m all for adoption/rescue whatever but I wanted something specific and had done a balls ton of research on the breed & the people who breed them. The key, find a reputable breeder. I can’t stress that part enough. Ask lots of questions and then ask more. Trust your gut.. if something seems shady it probably is. We have a lot of puppy mills out here don’t know about you, and a lot of people purchase dogs from them thinking they are “rescuing” them. True they need to be saved but sadly purchasing a puppy from one of these places just perpetuates the problem. Breed rescues are definitely a great way to go as someone mentioned before. They do get young dogs or even puppies you just have to check in often. Good luck in finding your baby! 🙂

Do you read “Running off the Reeses?” I didn’t want a French Bulldog until I read that blog, and now I need one
