Is it spelled slushee or slushie? Based on my spellcheck as I type out this very sentence, the correct spelling is slushee. Which is a real bummer because I’ve already typed out the recipe and given this recipe the name slushie. Is it easy change? Absolutely. Will I change it? Absolutely not. I have things to do, like drink this slushie. I just made some lunch that included a spicy queso mixed with rice and the slushie is really cooling down my fire mouth. Also, my spellcheck just said queso was misspelled so f*ck this spellcheck, ok? It knows nothing.
We’ve been spending SO MUCH time outdoors lately. This is our first summer in our new backyard and I’m absolutely in love with the space. We only have a small patch of grass that Jackson continues to ruin with his medication-laden urine, but our patio space is quite large. We don’t have a fire pit in our backyard, but the hubs found this light n’ go bonfire log that you just drop a match into and this log lights and burns out after 2 hours. We lit one for the first time last night and bundled up with blankets on the back patio. It was lovely. I lasted a solid 23 minutes before I headed back inside to watch the new Mindy Kaling created ‘Never Have I Ever’ show on Netflix. I love me some teenage sexual angst shows. That sounded weird. But come – Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, Twilight, American Pie, Superbad, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. All about teenage angst, all fantastic. Did you hear the news that the author of the Twilight series is releasing the Midnight Sun is August. I read the Twilight books in high school and I’m sure AF reading this next book at 32 years old.
But back to our patio instead of teenage angst. Whenever I’m doing one of my Power Body bodyweight workouts, I always do them on our back patio since the weather has been so beautiful. I actually filmed the entire 8-week program on our patio! And I recently purchased chairs and pillows, and we LOVE them. I spend most of my days sitting in these chairs. And I just added to the look with a new coffee table and side tables yesterday and it looks so damn cute! So today I made watermelon slushies to kick off even more comfortable time on our back patio. Today is a good day. And I’m into it. It’s also a good day because I have a pedicure soon. My poor nail tech. She has her work cut out for her. Gotta go, byeeeeeee!

i buy it cubed then freeze it! i’ve never found frozen watermelon in the freezer section sadly
These were awesome! Made them last night as a treat for the kids (3 & 5) after a fun hour of family trampoline bouncing. Nice way to wind down and cool down! Thanks for posting!
