This jam is amazing. It reminds me of my favorite jar jam that I ate growing up. That stuff is addicting. But it has a bit too much sugar in it for my taste.

Guess what I did? I bought a new car. Well, it’s a used car. But it’s new to me. After having my 1997 Honda Civic for 9 years (my first and only car) I decided it was time for an upgrade. I probably could have driven that car for another 3-5 years, but she was getting old. So I decided to do the grown up thing. And you know what I bought? Another Honda. I couldn’t help it. My first car barely had any issues in 9 years and it had 165,000 miles on it. So I did the responsible thing, I bought a used car, in my price range, and now I have no monthly bills to pay off. Which is fantastic. I can now save up for cooler things. Like trips. Or eating yummy food on those trips. Or buying yummy food to make recipes for you guys. See, way cooler.

This may be my favorite recipe in the history of the world. Is it paleo? Of course not. But it’s magical.

I ran in the rain yesterday. Highly dislike. It’s way worse than the snow. Where the hell is spring, Colorado, you selfish b*tch. I’ve been cold all year and I’m sick of it!!!

I’m gonna make Mother’s Day scones this weekend. Sorry I won’t be able to share them with you until next week, but I have wedding stuff taking over right now, remember? No, not mine. My cousin’s. I’m actually primping my hair for the wedding right now, as you read this. So, since I won’t have a new Mother’s Day brunch recipe to share with you until next week, let’s check out a few old ones that your mother would be happy to scarf down.

  1. This recipe with the biscuits I posted yesterday. Duh.
  2. Banana bread french toast. Yes please.
  3. Brussel sprouts and Spinach Truffle Frittata. That recipe didn’t get much hype for how delicious it is. Shame.
  4. Chocolate Coffee Banana Donuts
  5. Bacon and Maple Meatballs
  6. Apple Fritters
  7. Stuffed Acorn Squash
  8. Blueberry & Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Loaf
  9. Caramelized Onion Frittata
  10. Mexican Hash Egg Bake
  11. Savory Breakfast Casserole

That’s enough.

4.9 from 14 reviews

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Place a small saucepanover medium heat.
  2. Add frozen berries to cook until they are heated up and juice begins to come out from the berries.
  3. Then add blueberries, honey and lemon juice.
  4. Mix well and cook for about 5-7 minutes then reduce heat and cook for another 5-7 minutes until berries have fully exploded and everything has broken down into a well combined mixture.
  5. The longer you let the jam sit on low, the more it will thicken so feel free to lower the heat and go watch a trash tv show. Like I did.
  6. Put on these biscuits.

Notes

Makes 1 (8 ounce) jar of jam.

My Fiance and I were planning on making jam as favors for our wedding in September. I am so happy you posted a recipe that combines our favorite berries without adding any extra sugar or pectin! We’ll be sure to share pictures of our mass production of this wonderful recipe.

I don’t understand all the maple surup and honey used in your recipes. I’ve been on Paleo for 8 months and am trying to avoid sweets except for fruit. After reading The Sugar Fix I don’t think it’s advisable to use this stuff plus I don’t feel substituting “Paleo” baked goods is teaching us to live healthily — just a thought. I absolutely believe that ingesting too much of even “good” fructose (even from fruit) can make women feel hungrier thus the desire to eat too much. Beyond that, I do love many of your recipes.

    1. Theresa says:

She specifically said it is not paleo and has repeatedly said no one needs to make any of the recipes they don’t like.
I know how to make the substitutes I need to make the recipes my own. That’s what everyone should do. And ignore the recipes you don’t like. They are everywhere. You will drive yourself batsh-t crazy trying to make everyone else stop writing them.

Made the jam this morning and let it simmer for just about an hour and it was perfect. Thanks for all you give here. I love your humor and can’t wait to read each day.

Honey, where is your Mother’s Day recipe? You have wonderful recipes all of the time but you don’t have one dedicated to Mommies for this weekend. I love you girl and I’d love to see one for the Moms of the world!!

    1. Jenn says:

She addressed that…might want to read the post first.

  5. Alyson says:

I made the bacon sausage meatballs for a Mother’s Day/birthday brunch today. They were delicious and garnered rave reviews! Thank you!

  6. Charlene says:

Juli – this jam is ridiculous! I could probably eat it with a spoon, I need to find more things to put it on. Love your recipes, love you, just got your cookbook and can’t wait to use it! BTW the plantain drop biscuits were great too, almost tasted like a fall pumpkin cookie, must be all the cinnamon 🙂 thanks girl

Still driving my 2001 Honda Accord. 270,000 miles and still going! I hope I’m still driving it in 12 more years. Seriously, I really do.

    1. Robin says:

      Melissa,

I love Hondas. My honda is a 1998 and it still runs pretty well. I got it two years ago after my 1996 that had over 350,000 miles finally quit on me.

Right now I am letting my jam sit until hardens. I do not always stick completely to Paleo but most of the time I do. I think it is okay to cheat once in awhile 🙂

  8. Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says:

I LOVE homemade jam! My family used to make strawberry jam and raspberry jam every summer and we would freeze it so it would (hopefully) last through winter. Love the idea of adding honey too!

  9. megan says:

I’ve been looking for a sugar-free jam for my kids and looks one looks great! Do you know if you can just freeze batches the way you made it or do you need to add pectin? I’ve never made jam before.

I just made this and the plantain muffins 2 days ago, and devoured them for breakfast. Now this morning I polished off what was left by mixing this amazing fruit goop into some vanilla Greek yogurt.

Now I HAVE to make more. 🙂
