Happy 2017!!! Welcome to the New Year and I hope you’re as pumped as I am about this coming year! Last night I rang in the New Year chugging down Perrier water so I could wake up this morning feeling my best. No better way to ring in the New Year than by peeing 47 times in a night! But man, it feels awesome not waking up hung over today!

Anywhoooooo, even though it’s already 2017, I wanted to do a little summary of what happened in 2016, my favorites on PaleOMG and also in my personal life! Because even though it’s 2017, some of these 2016 recipes should NOT be forgotten about! So let’s recap!

We got married! In Jamaica. And it.was.awesome. So far, marriage is pretty damn great!

I hosted my first PaleOMG Retreat in Costa Rica and it was absolutely beautiful and I got to meet so many amazing people from all over! It was so beautiful that I’m taking my husband back this spring!

I had the opportunity to go to San Fransisco to take part in the Stitch Fix Tastemakers Event to meet not only the entire Stitch Fix company and staff, but also met amazing bloggers from all over the US and was able to learn so much from these amazing women!

I helped Cassy from Fed & Fit create the fitness section of her newest book, creating 28 workouts you can do anywhere!

I added a beauty tab where I talked about profractional, microblading, hair and makeup!

I added a travel tab and talked about my first trip to Palm Springs, Grand Lake, my fourth trip to Portland, and I plan on adding A LOT to that tab this coming year!

I JUST started making some short cooking videos and just filmed one yesterday! You can see my first one here and stay tuned because I plan to share one every two weeks or so!

I branched out into fashion even more because of your feedback and have been lucky to get to work with companies like lululemon, ModCloth, Nordstrom, Cotopaxi, Moon & Lola, Express, Topshop, Nike, and Sole Society! It’s been so freaking cool to get to work with such amazing companies, I feel really damn lucky!

I shared my favorite restaurants from all the places I’ve traveled in my community tab, where YOU can also share your favorite restaurants!

I started sharing free travel workouts every Monday in my Weekly Workouts post and I just recently began sharing more fitness videos on my instagram page to help you stay motivated in your own gym!

I went on a short book tour with Diane Sanfilippo and Cassy Garcia to promote their new books and to continue to promote my latest cookbook Juli Bauer’s Paleo Cookbook!

I sent out multiple free newsletter subscriber recipes and plan to share even more next year! PLUS I’m planning on sending out workouts as well!

When a reader asked me to start a podcast, I did it! And so far I’ve recorded 15 episodes!

    Hi Juli!
Happy New Year! I discovered your blog last year and it has def made a difference in my life and my family’s life. You’ve inspired new and healthier recipes, our fave being the 5 ing. spaghetti pie. Thank you!
I do have a request for a topic I haven’t seen you cover yet. Injuries. Have you had one or many and how have you recovered? You are young and strong so you may not have experienced any yet. I’ve worked out my whole life but for the past 7 years, I’ve focused on HIIT training type classes. So this past summer, I thought I’d start Crossfit. I was super careful w form and had the coach watch me so that I wouldn’t get injured by doing sloppy lifts. Well, I somehow tweaked my lower back and strained my shoulder doing skin the cats. For several months now I’ve been doing PT, acupuncture massage and of course stretching and foam rolling. I am 46 and it seems as if many people around my age have some sports injury of some kind.
    thanks Juli!

    1. juli says:

i’ll definitely talk about that this week, but i have to say here, i haven’t dealt with many injuries so it’s hard for me to say

    ***podcast question***

How have you been able to figure out which foods make you break out? You mentioned in your last podcast that you don’t eat many eggs because they cause your skin to flare up– how did you figure out it was eggs?

    1. juli says:

trial and error. but it was actually a reader who mentioned that eggs made her break out and once i took them out of my diet, my face cleared up instantly. then once i eat eggs again, i break out. so it’s pretty obvious once you figure it out!

Hey Juli- making my way through my favorite Christmas gift- your cookbook! Do you have a favorite brand of white truffle oil?

    1. juli says:

no, just whatever i can find in store or online!

  4. Amy says:

    Hi Juli!
I’m somewhat new to Paleo and I love your website, books and podcast. I asked my husband to do a whole 30 with me and her immediately said “no.” Tonight I made your buffalo chicken casserole and he LOVED it. He was even questioning if it was really paleo. I also made your magic brownie bars (obsessed and they totally don’t trigger sugar cravings!) twice and your gingerbread brownies throughout the holiday season. They’ve been a huge hit! Thank you for all that you do. I love your recipes and will be making a new one at least once per week (especially now that you also have my husband hooked). Thanks again! – Amy

    1. juli says:

  5. Ferra says:

Happy New Year! Do you plan on hosting another PaleOMG Retreat this year?

    1. juli says:

no plans as of yet, but that could obviously change at any point and i will announce it here first thing!!

  6. Whitney says:

Hey girl hey! Hoping you can answer a question about your pizza spaghetti pie. I’ve never made it (gasp!) but want to, with added veggies. Would I cook those before putting it in the oven?

Can’t wait to see all you do in 2017!

    1. juli says:

you could just add the veggies in! it cooks long enough to really break the veggies down, unless you are doing something more dense like sweet potatoes

  7. Tanya says:

Can you do a post about the decor and how you organized the room where you film your tutorials?

    1. juli says:

once i get that room exactly how i want it to look, i’ll definitely be doing a post about it!

  8. Michelle says:

Hi Juli!! I absolutely loved your Buffalo Chicken Casserole and the BBQ Chicken Casserole! I made the BBQ chicken last night. Obviously I love the casserole type recipes, that you can make once and enjoy for a few days so more like that would be awesome!

Also, your Podcast is my absolute favorite. Saturdays are already my fav day of the week but getting your podcast first thing in the morning makes the weekend even better! Thanks for being real!

    1. juli says:

thanks for all the love, michelle!! xoxoxo

Happy New Years! Loving your blog, snapchats & instagram post but I seem to have not been able to receive your blog updates on my RSS reader, Feedly lately! Makes me sad 🙁 Just wanted to let you know!

    1. juli says:

that was updated just yesterday. not sure what happened but it has been updated. have you checked since then?

      1. Hillary Gras says:

I have written you several times about this 🙁 I am still having issues. No feed

        1. juli says:

well it’s fixed on my end. so you may need to remove my feed and re-ad it back in – it may just be stuck on your end.

  10. Maddy says:

    Hey Juli,
I just wanted to say thank you for all of your inspiring posts. Recently during a long holiday car ride with my fiance I talked him into listening to your Podcast with me (he is not typically a Podcast kind of guy), and it inspired him to stick to a paleo diet with me! Not only that, but I think you have convinced us that getting married on a beach is much better than dropping $30,000 to get married somewhere near our home in North Carolina.

Anyway, we think you are awesome! Have a great New Year and we look forward to keeping up with your inspiration and workouts through 2017!

    1. juli says:

really?! that’s so surprising and so awesome at the same time! and if you go for a beach wedding, you will NOT regret it. it’s the absolute best!
