Whenever I write a post about kids, kid-friendly recipes, after school snacks…well I feel like a bit of a fraud. I don’t have kids, I don’t know what it’s like to have kids, and I definitely don’t know what it’s like to feed kids. But I have one hell of an imagination so I’m good at playing pretend, thinking up what I might feed my children if I had them. I’d love to believe that I could feed them leftover salmon, kale, and some sort of salad fixin’s each day when they got home from school, but based on how I was as a child and my love for cheese fries and oatmeal cream pies, it may not go that way. It’s hard to say. From what I’ve seen, you really never know what you’re going to get when you have a child. It may be a carrot eater, it may be a cake eater. I hope my child loves both, just like me.
Did I seriously just make that entire paragraph about my theoretical children? I’m exhausting. This is about you and YOUR children. Your children that need to be fed. I have no idea if this post will help you, but I hope it does! I put together some delicious breakfasts I think kids will like, some of my favorite easy and kid-approved (via instagram) lunches and dinners, and then some snacks (sweet and savory) that will keep that full and happy. Let me know if your kids try any of these recipes and if they like them! If not, tell them to grow up and expand their palate. Are you allowed to say that sort of thing to children? Again, don’t have any and still working on that skill of how to talk to them. It’s a work in progress. Enjoy!

Juli! I have been calling you since my youngest was born, he will be ten this fall 😂 I recently heard you talking about Jay Schetty, he has a podcast with Shefali Tsibaury (not sure if I’m spelling that right), It is the most beautiful interview about parenting. She has a book out right now that she speaks about in the podcast, I have three children, 14/12/almost 10…I have read many many books on parenting… this is probably the most beautiful, honest account. I know you don’t have a child of your own, But if you’re looking for anything to listen to, I think this would be soothing to listen to, She speaks very much to the point that having a child is a spiritual experience. It’s not about you or the child, it’s about what you both bring to the table together… it’s brutally honest, beautiful. Anyhow, I wanted to share it with you! I love that you are on the journey you are on! I love that you’re sharing it with us, it warms my heart and I am so comforted to hear someone else going through so many of the same things💜
Sorry! * following you (not calling!) – sorry!
My teenager needs some more filling options for her school lunch and you just gave me some great ideas! Going to try the taco pasta salad first 🙂
