I’m sore everywhere. Pretty much every inch of my body is uncomfortable this week. It’s amazing that even after 6 years of doing CrossFit, I still get sore like I just started. How is that possible? I’ve trained every movement but my body still always has room to get better and improve. Hence why I’m always sore. It’s so awesome and this is exactly why I adore CrossFit so damn much.
Yesterday on IG, I mentioned about finding a workout you love and doing it regularly. Then some woman started putting down CrossFit. You know what pisses me off more than anything? When people put other people down for their style of workout. You see it with CrossFit all the time. CrossFitters putting people down for running marathons or working out on the elliptical. Who puts another person down for furthering their health in a better direction? It makes absolutely no sense. I think those people should be reprimanded. Maybe beaten with sticks or stoned. Seems fair. You want to make fun of someone trying to better their health? Well we will worsen yours.
I know, a little harsh, Juli. It’s just been a weird week, a sad week, and I’m over the little cyber bullying that happens daily. Whether it’s on my blog or someone else’s. Why are people so angry? Probably because they haven’t found the workout they love yet.
So let’s just talk about these wings that are absolutely freaking delicious. They are so freaking easy, so flavorful and the dip almost has a sour cream cooling feel to it. And if you’re anything like me, you could eat a boat full of sour cream dip. Don’t act like you find that gross. That would be my heaven. Swimming in a boat full of chips and dip then sleeping in a tub full of cake. Ok, the more I say dumb things, the grosser it all seems. I’m just going to stop. But if chicken wings aren’t your thannnnng, scroll down below the recipe because there are over 54 of my favorite paleo football friendly recipes to knock any of your guests socks off!
Now go celebrate football season almost being over!
Honey Lime Chicken Wings with Creamy Avocado Cilantro Dip
- Yield: 4-6 1x
Ingredients
For the wings
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/3 cup lime juice
- 3 tablespoon honey
- zest of 1 lime
- 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
- pinch of salt
For the dip
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 1 avocado
- juice of 1/2 a lime
- 1/4 cup cilantro
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- pinch of salt
For garnish
- lime zest
- lime wedges
- green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Place an oven rack in the top position and preheat the oven to 400 degree F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Grease wire rack. Place the chicken wings on the wire rack and sprinkle with the salt and pepper. Bake for 50 minutes or until crispy.
- While wings cook, place all ingredients for the dip in the food processor and blend until smooth. Place in the fridge to chill.
- When wings have 10 minutes left to cook, place the lime juice, honey, lime zest, coconut aminos and a little bit of salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a low boil, about 8-10 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Place wings in a bowl and pour over honey lime mixture and toss to coat. Place on serving tray and garnish with lime zest, extra lime wedges and green onion then serve with chilled dip on the side.

Everything looks INCREDIBLE! Can’t wait to try some of these recipes out this weekend and impress my non-paleo friends 🙂
JB, I love it when you bring up the crap that goes on in this world. I agree with your outlook wholeheartedly. Why do people feel the need to put someone else down!? Is it because they aren’t happy with themselves so hating on others makes them feel better? That’s just stupid and childish. My sister loves Zumba (and is an instructor), and I love Crossfit. The two couldn’t be more different, but that doesn’t matter cause it’s what works for us and it’s what we like. I don’t care that she isn’t into Crossfit at all, I’m happy that she found something that she really enjoys doing.
it absolutely is. the only time i ever find myself talking shit about someone is when i’m feeling down about my own life. whenever i’m happy, no negativity is coming out of my mouth. and definitely not on the internet or social media.
Damn!! This is like the most awesome snack list ever! I get to skip the super bowl this year, since I have a gig, but I’ll definitely have to fit some of these into my life in the near future!
Thanks!
People are mean on the internet because they are unhappy with themselves. It’s so much more a reflection on them than the person they’re attempting to bash. Sad. Infuriating at times, but mostly just sad. And pathetic. Sad and infuriating and pathetic. Okay I’ll stop.
And um, there isn’t one thing up there that doesn’t look AMAZING! I want ALL THE FOOD!
Wow, thanks for sharing so many recipes. I’m not sure which one I should make for the superbowl, they all look so delicious!
I think people spend a lot of time putting down other people’s workouts because they think that what they do is best. People who think muscle definition is best prefer weight lifting. People who think lean muscles are best prefer cardio. But honestly, every body is different and what’s great about fitness is that different exercises bring you different results. The only time I criticize exercise is when people are putting themselves in danger (ex: weightlifting on their own without proper form training first or running a marathon without building up their endurance slowly over time) and if you are concerned about the way someone exercises, it’s always best to ask them about it and voice your concerns respectfully.
No one knows your lifestyle or what your body needs better than you (and perhaps your doctor and trainer) so don’t listen to those haters on the internet! I’m so sorry they brought you down!

Thank you for posting these … sour cream is bomb, but hard on my no dairy belly! These pics are making me so hungry …
As for bullying people’s choices of exercise … come on peeps!! We just need to be happy for anyone – no matter what makes then happy. Nutrition choices and exercise are kinda personal and as long as you’re not sitting on your couch day after day, then awesome! I love crossfit and my friends are happy that I found an outlet for stress and that it makes me so happy. I’m happy for my girlfriends that love Zumba, even though it bores me to tears … it makes them happy so who cares! You want to walk around the block, hula hoop, run races, enter a potato sack race … sweet! Just be happy for people…it takes so much energy to let someone else’s exercise habits affect your own feelings instead of just giving them a high five. Geez …
In any case, I want to make all of these to eat on Sunday even though I probably won’t be watching the Super Bowl lol … thank you for posting! 🙂
me neither. snacks are way more fun than watching anyways
I’m pretty new to cooking at home. So, silly question: what kind of wire rack do you cook the wings with?
just something like this! http://www.amazon.com/Goson-Heavy-Duty-Cooling-Commercial-Oven-Safe/dp/B00MHSX5UA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1454721537&sr=8-3&keywords=wire+rack
Juli,
I love your honesty and amazing food! I’m headed to the store to get the stuff to make these wings!
Impossible to be a vegan on this diet…major fault
i would not recommend vegan for anyone, so i don’t think it’s a fault whatsoever
Just bought your latest cookbook and I cant wait to get home to start cooking!
What are some paleo approved Dijon mustard brands? Definitely need to make the mayo
Thanks!
i like sir kensington’s!
