Labor Day weekend is heeeeeere and I hope you all have plans with friends, family, or just yourself…because let’s face it, being by yourself is the BEST. I haven’t been by myself enough lately and I’m craving it. I think I need a second home where I can just sit with my thoughts whenever I’m craving it. Which I’m pretty sure would be a couple times a week. But alas, I have friends to hang out with, an island party to host for 14 people, and a zoom call to have with all my Sculpt members. Holiday weekends are no longer for resting, they are for entertaining. Some day I’ll have a house all to myself, though. Someday.
But until then, it’s time to host! We are having friends over tomorrow for our monthly family dinner, which has somehow grown from 4-6 people to 14. Luckily it’s all good people that I’m happy to be around. But that does means A LOT of food prep. I’m making an island macaroni salad, my Jicama Apple Slaw, a caramelized onion dip, and these cute little sand cups. And I bought some Kalua pork, aloha salad, and spam musubi. Then Brian is making signature drinks and my bff is making pork fried rice and bacon wrapped pineapple for a teriyaki dipping sauce. What a lovely day of delicious food. Not exactly a Labor Day vibe, but it’s going to be delicious! If you’re still trying to figure out what to make this holiday weekend, hopefully this post gives you some ideas without you having to dig through all the thousands of recipes throughout the past 10 years of PaleOMG. I did the digging for you! Now go enjoy your weekend, soak up every minute of it, and laugh A LOT. That’s what holiday weekends are for!
